The Musketeer is a gun powder infantry unit, recruitable in American Conquest. They are trained at the Fort and Fortress.
Every European faction has access to Musketeers. Their quick availability and fast train time make them a vital part of the earlier stretches of most matches.
Different variants[]
The Musketeer unit appears in three different variants across the different European factions:
Pole Shooter:[]
The most widespread variant carries a stationary pole which they need to set up first to start shooting. They also need to put their poles back before moving again. This variant is used by Britain, the USA, Spain, Russia, and Germany.
Quick Shooter:[]
The second, and offensively best variant of the musketeer is used by the Netherlands and France. Their musketeers are able to quickly shoot from the hip without any setup, with no drawbacks except a little higher food cost in their production. They also start with a base value of zero in sword- and pike defense. Investments in defense upgrades though can raise their defenses to a level similar to their other European counterparts.
Fusilier-type Shooter:[]
The third and rather unique variant of the musketeer unit is used by the Portuguese. Their musketeers carry their muskets in a "fusilier type" fashion leaning on their shoulders. This causes them to require a little setup period before shooting that is faster than pole shooters', though slower than the quick shooters'. They also start with zero base resistances and are, thus, a little bit more fragile than the average musketeer.
